does anyone have any idea what this beautiful glaze is? I love how it interacts with the clay body.

I was talking off the top of my head here and leaving out information.  It is my guess, not something I know that the Sodium in a high Na flux glaze in solution spreads beyond the glaze and interacts with the iron in the clay to give the toasty edge that you see with some glazes.  Since this is on porcelain, in my Gilda moment I say "Nevermind...."

Anytime you see something on this network that fits directly into the subject matter of  another topic, forum, or group, it would be a great service to our network to copy the material over to that area.  Please give credit, or link back to the source.

Thanks Donna.

you guys I wanted to thank you all for taking the time to respond to this. I'm looking forward to trying some of these recipes.

Val's Turquoise problem-  After using this mug for a while (for coffee), these white specs appear in the cup.  (see photo).  Could this be  a chemical reaction?  The glaze should be mature at Cone 6.  I soak for 10 minutes at end of firing.  Can anyone comment on why the stoneware and or glaze seems to be reacting like this? Thanks.

Just throwing, no pun intended, this out there, could it be wax resist. I have a similar glaze colour and I work in porcelain so I will try it with a wax resist on my next firing and let you know what happens.
