How much rutile to make a blue cone 6 glaze?

This is 2, 3, 4, 5% rutile added to an 80:20 mix of Alberta Slip and Frit 3134 at cone 6 (GA6-C recipe). I use the 4% often, very nice blue with zero expensive cobalt).

HI Kathy - This colours of this glaze on Plainsman M340 seems to range from Amber (where thin) to a powder-blue, while on the M370 it ranges from Amber to a purplish-powder-blue.  

You mentioned a Raven's Lime - what are you using as a colourant?

I checked out your mugs Susan and love the colour variation in them so will definitely be trying the Alberta slip recipe.  Quite a few of my favourite glazes have ravenscrag slip as their main ingredient Tony.  I find it very stable and even have a couple that will do funky things like raven's lime which gives me a great lime base and grey spots.  I'm working on that one to see if I can get it in more colours.

Note that each glaze at albertaslip.com has clear instructions. This particular glaze does not work nearly as well on porcelain as it does on other bodies.

I have used this glaze with 4% rutile on Plainsman M370

Here are two examples of finished pieces with 4% rutile, and as you can see there is a lot of colour variation depending on how thick the glaze is and how it pools.  It's a simple glaze with great results!  Thanks Tony!  Susan

Tony, does the alberta slip need to be calcined? I read where you talked about this and I have zero experience in mixing glazes so I hope you will chime in. please.
