FYI you can accelerate drying time by placing your pieces in your kitchen oven (or kiln) and heating to 200 deg F and holding for about 3 hours. Open the oven frequently (or vent the kiln) to let out the steam. This is a technique Steven Hill used in a workshop I attended to throw, glaze, and fire pieces, all during a 4 day workshop. This may stress pieces with handles so you might want to make a couple of extras just in case.

Susan I thought about a single fire but I have never tried that. I think I can get these shaving scuttles dry and bisqued by Fri. and glazed Sat. I'm using a white stoneware C6 clay with a clear glaze. I know white sounds boring but they have a small bathroom that they keep changing the color. I'm just using my small test kiln to fire in, I just had a envirovent 2 system installed on my two larger kilns and haven't got to try it out yet not enough work ready to fill one. Have you done single fire at C6? Denice

Thank you for posting those glaze formulas from your mugs. I know how that consumes precious time that most of us have very little of especially around the holidays. I'll be testing them this week, my son called last night and wants me to make him a shaving scuttle for X-Mass. So I will be firing this week, have a happy holiday. Denice

I poured the black liner glaze, then dipped the rim into the black. I dipped the mugs into the green then dipped the rim again into the green.
Further to Denice's question the liner glaze is:
Ravenscrag Black Glossy
Ravenscrag Slip - 80 (I added an additonal) 4% to this batch
Frit 3134 - 20
Red Iron Oxide - .50
Cobalt Oxide - .50
Chrome Oxide .50

The green glaze on these is the following from Mastering Cone 6 glazes with the addition of 2% copper carbonate and 2.5% titanium dioxide. I have a whole lot of other variations I have tested which I can post as well.
So here it is again:
Frit 3195 - 23
Woolastonite - 28
Nepheline Syenite - 4
EPK - 28
Silica - 17
Colourants:
Copper Carbonate - 2%
Titanium Dioxide - 2.5%

I like the glaze combinations on both your set of mugs what formulas are you using. I thought I had tested every Cone 6 celadon green recipes that existed but yours seems to have a richer color. Denice

As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
