Profile Information

What is your experience with ceramics in general. (Long answer encouraged)
I started dabbling with clay around 9 yrs ago after having back surgery ,retired and lots of time on my hands. Well that was it. As I recovered and became more mobile,I decided to put myself through an accredited ceramics diploma 2 year course, and haven't looked back. I enjoy wheel throwing most I guess, love the challenge, and hand building . All aspects of clay is exciting, design and originality also. However although we did several modules of glaze and pollutants,I found that the most challenging. I'm more of a design in clay person and haven't the patience I guess to test test test,I'm always thinking of new shapes and vessels to try. I have 2 electric kilns. I also have my glaze minerals and oxides etc and stick to basic clear glaze ,but I need to venture further from my safe clear zone. Just need encouragement from fellow mud buddies to give me a swift kick.
What is your current involvement with electric fired ceramics? (long answer encouraged)
I have a smaller evenheat rampmaster11 and also a larger free standing Tellow kiln. I've been mixing my own glazes for a couple of years but have had hit and miss quite often. Clear glazes are my comfort zone I'm afraid, but need to venture

I feel the knowledge base is great and although I can find something of interest often ,I figure it would be great to connect with the group now and then if a situation can be rectified with a collective group base
Where do you work on your ceramics projects?
School or college, community center, home studio
