George - Here is the "Butt" Seam. I tend to prefer to show the seam than "hide it. In persone these pieces look like bodies and the back always looks like a butt. It is a slab but thrown you can do the same by making the piece bottomless. I prefer a slab as it's a better consistency to form the shape without waiting too long for it to stiffen up. I may make a short viodeo on how to make the big ones.

I really like the strong patterned texture on this. I'm guessing it must have been slab built, and that there was a devilishly difficult seam somewhere. Another question is about tripod feet on thrown pieces. Do you have or know of a video on that process? Is such a pot usually thrown bottomless?
