Interesting. Some of the nicest ceramic pieces have seen had glazes applied and fired 8, 12 or 16 times. We have a book someplace with a lot of examples like this.  I'll post the title if I find it.

My nephew's Aztec Gold on his Mickey Mouse came out very mirror-like because he applied it to a perfectly smooth previously fired ^6 surface.

After seeing my results of the Spectrum 1116 Metallic Mirror I can see a perfect surface it the key to the final look. The smooth side of the tile is a perfect mirror, but the textured side has some mirrored areas with most being dark glass with a slight green cast to it

Just wanted to add though that I brush this glaze on as you mix it up very thick so the only way to apply is with brushing.  Very high in manganese so I don't think I'd want to try spraying it and it is absolutely non-food safe!

Thanks Norm but I had to apply and fire, reapply and refire! The first coat peeled a bit and left gaps so I re-applied all over and got a smooth coat the 2nd time around.  This is the first time I've had problems with this glaze peeling so next time I mix it I'm going to try calcining some of the clay.

Kathy - You have quite a deft touch with this glaze on your piece.

This is the Colin Pearson Bronze on a test tile in our kiln with slow-cool between 1800 F and 1500 F.

That is a very nice metallic copper Kathy.  I'll have to try it out.

Pearson's bronze is a glaze I make up and one of my favourites!  I can't put my hands on the recipe right now but if you'd like it I will see if I can find it.  This jar is one of my best ones yet and quite large at 15" high.

Is Pearson's bronze glaze one you make or is it purchased?  This jar is truly elegant.    Denice
