It was made by bringing the four corners of a square slab of clay (which was impressed with my "You Bug Me" Intaglio mat) into the center of the square; much easier to show someone than try to explain it. My mats are for sale on Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/shop/BHClaysmith?section_id=13035613&ref=s...

This was made from 308 red stoneware clay not 266 brown and was coated with redart terra sigillata when bone dry. After the bisque, I used an oxide stain on it, lifting the stain when dry so it was mostly in the low spots.  After firing I waxed it with Renaissance wax.  No glaze involved!

Oh my, this is stunning! Barbara, if you get a chance, please let us know how you made this and glazed it.  I just love brown clay, and just switched back to my tan.  Makes me miss it.

If there was a "Love it" button, I would push it. What a fabulous piece Barbara!
