thank you cp... whimsy is a word I appreciate and attitude to which I aspire. It seems easier to achieve in the creatures that I build, but would desire it come through in my functional work also. I am one who appreciates primitive style and would like to develop a relaxed, casual approach to brushwork while still retaining good craftsmanship. I fire to cone 6. I am using a white bmix 5 clay. I buy clear glaze in dry quantities and add colorants to get the paler greens and blues. The red, yellow, and black are commercial wet glazes and the brown is Red Gold. all clay and glazes are from Coyote Clay Company. again, thanks for the encouragement.
Carl , these look fun and v v happy! many times much of our work looks strong, but w/o whimsy...
what cone are you firing to ?
are your glazes self made or purchased ?
interesting b/c a just finished a show and sold one cup, while a fellow potter sold numerous large mugs.
Carl when I first composed my comment I wrote cups, that's what I thought they were too. I changed it to mugs because I thought no one makes cups any more. I like cups also but they don't sell well, I made some cups for a Valentines fund raiser, only had one that sold, everyone bought mugs the bigger the better. The person who bought my cup found me later and told me it was the best cup he had ever used. My son and his wife requested a set after drinking from them, I guess their may be a market for cups out there just hard to find. Denice
thanks, Denice. they are a bit small, something I am trying to work on, though truth be told I do not like large mugs, much prefer a cup.
Great mugs they would be fun to drink your coffee from. Denice

As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
