hi denice, first of all the central pole was only for our reference we removed it after finishing the making of it. we didnt stack wood inside the sculpture, i have only created some chambers with the help of cerawool to retain heat in each section for sometime. we only fired the sculpture from bottom. In firing i have started first with gas burner from both the side to go slow and after 500 degrees i have sifted to wood to reach upto 1050 degree celcius. - oza

I am curious as to what your heat source was? Did you stack wood within it as you built the sculpture then stoke it from the bottom. The was a support pole in the middle of the sculpture did it have some kind of gas burner attached to it? Denice
