So here is the same 3 layers w/a different color coat on top.  In the tests it came out more red, but I'm still happy with it.  Still not as good as the original.  Test, test, test......

So this was supposed to be a purple version.  I had the blue for boys & now I have pink for girls.  The top glaze is in the same family of glazes but the composition must be different.  You never know with store bought glazes.  Now I'm going to have to test them all to see what colors I can come up with.  jhp

Hi Juli,

I used Cornwall Stone, but don't know if it is the real deal or made up stuff.  The CS that I have is definitely somewhat coarse and not nearly as refined as most of the other materials I use.  I definitely like what the glaze does and I think the CS has a lot to do with that.  I'm sure also that the difference in rutiles will make a difference as well.  jhp

Jeff, did you use cornwall stone as per recipe or did you substitute it?  Love your glaze and thought I might make up a batch of "donna white".

If you put "crazy" in the search box you will find a post on the 2nd page where I have a post entitled "I think I'm going crazy" where Donna reposts the Matt White recipe. jhp

The piece is 16" tall. There was no run off at all. There is a wash and 3 layers on top. I'll have to do some more tests to make sure this isn't a fluke. If you do a search for "rutile" you will find the recipe somewhere between page 15 and 20 I think. If I were at home instead of using my phone I could find it and paste it. It is a Matt White with 4% rutile. There s a post where Donna was kind enough to repost it. Will post more details when I get on my computer at work. jhp

Searched for Donna's White on the site and cannot find it.  Do you have a link please ?

Your effect is grand, and most amazing for an electric fired piece.

May i ask how tall the piece is ?

Wow Jeff!! Looks really great.  Will you share your technique?  This is two glazes layered?  Did the glaze run off the foot of the vase?

I have to give a lot of credit to Donna Ferrara as this is her Matt White Base with 4% rutile in it. After she posted it, i just kept going back to it & trying more layering tests.  I think I will try her NWLS as well.  It is a little different and we'll see what it does.   jhp
