Just have to remember to labels and make sure that everything has a place. My partners are pretty great about helping out too.

At least in my studio, I'm the only person I need to worry about.  I can't imagine trying to track a large variety of clay with so many users Cyndy.

Kathy, I know what you mean! I manage the pottery studio for a non-profit art school. We have low fire clays and glazes for the kids, cone 6 glazes, stoneware, brownstone,  and Ellen Buff for the adult classes, raku clay and glazes, and there there is my stuff. Sometimes I just stare at the boxes trying to remember which is what. If I don't put labels on every box of clay and every shelf, I would go nuts.

My favorite glazes in John's book were cone 6 ox. soda glazes. Loved them.  I wish I was as lucky as Kathy and Cyndy attending all those fab workshops!!!!

Hope y'all both keep showing pictures, and great information.

I ordered John Britts' book from Chapters and am anxiously awaiting its' arrival.  The soda firing was terrific although we didn't get quite enough soda into the kiln.  The salt firing is where things got spectacular and I have a bunch of pieces I won't want to part with, including some salty stars for my Christmas tree. Problem is I now have an earthenware clay I bought for a Carol Gouthro workshop last summer, 2 cone 6 clays, and a high fire stoneware as well as a cone 10 porcelain for salt/soda fire.  It's only a matter of time before it gets all mixed up!

Yes, I took a workshop with Steven Hill last summer. It was fabulous. I am single firing all my work now.

The red orange is a Steven Hill glaze featured in John Britt's glaze book. I have not done any soda firings yet. I love the pots that I have seen.

Is it single fired and are you using Stephen Hills' methods?

BTW I just took part in soda and salt firings and I got some of that orange on my soda fired pots; would love to be able to get that colour at cone 6.

Love the combination of glazes you used.
