I used the silk screen technique shown in this video

https://youtu.be/mDzaBwxeuhg

I'm thinking you can apply a printed engraving, also a free engraving can sometimes be more interesting than a repeating pattern.

It's possible to transfer a copied photo or silk-screen onto the bottom of a container or elsewhere.

IN THE PHOTO (below) I made a charmless repetitive drawing in Photoshop to test on ceramics.

So into in stew to see if this will pass the test firing using a Cone 7 glaze.

I'm excited to think that a print can be transferred in a month if the results of these tests go well after the firing.  Also logo or advertising can be sold to finance the costs of the workshop $ .....

But the coolest part will be be making an artistic engraving made especially for the container
If the results are good;

Pero lo más padre va ser realizar un grabado artístico hecho especialmente para el recipiente   si es que resultas pruebas ;

I like your first sentence, Norm. "Making glaze is really reproducing semi-precious stones." That is really a pithy observation.

Making glaze is really reproducing semi-precious stones. A chemical process using heat.

Using metal oxides as paint is complicated by the fact that many oxides acquire a different color after the firing, and these colors change depending on the glaze chemistry.

In truth, some colors are not easily created without using pre-made ceramic colorants like "Mason Stains".

Using Mason Stains can simplify the artistic process because the color does not change after the firing.

Some ceramicists, aclimated to traditional coloring oxides, feel the brighter colors of "Mason Stains" (some using "rare-earth elements" such as praseodymium silicate for bright yellow) "look wrong" or artificial on a ceramic - while others embrace the new freedom of these colorants.

I think Tlaquepaque (Jalisco, Mexico) ceramic artist Sergio Bustamante has used both. But more recently using metal oxides as paint without a glaze base.  Sometimes pastel paint after the firing.

Ceramics from the Andy Warhol-esqe factory of Sergio Bustamante. I think he started working with paper mache, and also works in metal, and resin castings in addition to the ceramics.

My work is cultural folklore speaking about our ancestors and can be very picturesque, I like using engraving and printing techniques to tell stories ... I'd like to develop colored stoneware to illustrate the surface of ceramics.

I put 50 color test tiles in my next firing, many colors and recipes were taken from the comments and files this on this website for which I am grateful. Ceramicists here (in Mexico City) rarely share technique or recipes so color testing is slow.
It's more difficult to illustrate fired ceramics than drawing with other techniques.

Juli long - Minimalism is an opposite trend, this is to say more with less, I find it very cool to say much with an economy of strokes, for now I think it is more difficult for me. Over here we follow.

All your pots tell a story or two!  Mine, not so much, actually not at all.
