Potters & Sculptors - Making Rock from Mud
Happy New Year Everyone
I'm trying a new project and I was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice. I want to make some seamless porcelain rings like these by Monika Skrzypkow. I don't want to copy her work I just want to figure out how to make the blanks and then I can add my own touches. I found a mold that is used with metal clay but am unsure if it will work for porcelain, the manufacture wasn't sure either.
If anyone can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it.
Depending on size -- finger rings? napkin rings? bracelets? larger? Throw tall cylinders. Profile into sections with a custom rib (old gift card , etc. cut to shape), but don't cut completely through until they are close to leather hard. You could do some exterior decoration before cutting them apart.
Extrude a tube and cut it up and smooth the edges.
Thanks for the replies, as I don't have a proper extruder I think I will try and throw a slim cylinder and go from there.
