Potters & Sculptors - Making Rock from Mud
I have been using Standaard 182 clay - but have moved to area where I will have to special order it. I can get Laguna 436 B-Mix with grog locally which sounds similar to 182 (except for firing range but i fire to cone 5-6) in color and grog content. If you have had experience with Laguna 436 could you give me feedback. I throw and hand build - nothing really large - hand building mostly some pieces built in sections over period of time and then joined prebisque firing or some during glaze firing. thanks for any help. -carl
Carl - We used a lot of WC‑436 B‑Mix 5 Clay with Grog from our last order. Nice texture and firing for hand building.
This time they ordered WC‑886 B‑Mix with Grog Paper Clay which surprisingly doesn't stick to itself very well. Not as good with added paper fibers.
