Empty Bowls
In 1991 Michigan art teacher John Hartom and his wife Lisa thought of an idea to use his students efforts in making ceramic bowls to raise money to feed the hungry. It was originally planned to be a one time event. 21 years later that idea is known as Empty Bowls with events held around the World. Empty Bowls has raised millions of dollars to combat hunger. Now retired, John and Lisa live in Western North Carolina and continue to support the Empty Bowls project. I met John this past summer as he and others were working with the Asheville food bank, MANNA, on their 10th Empty Bowls event. This is a story about people giving their time, material and effort to fight the growing problem of hunger.

Harbor Freight is a great place to find unbeatable prices for better HVLP spray guns with stainless steel parts and serviceable economy models, as well as detail guns, all tested by our members for spraying glazes, as well as compressors to power the guns. As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
The critter siphon gun is a spray alternative that is well liked by some of our members, and is available at amazon.
