- What is your experience with ceramics in general. (Long answer encouraged)
- A long time back, in the 70's I spent time doing ceramics among other disciplines, in art school in London, Eng. Did nothing more with clay, though always involved in arts of different kinds, till about 5 years ago, I took an evening ceramics course at the local community arts centre, and used their facilities till about a year ago. I got myself an older kiln, and do all my work at home now. I had a day job till winter, and have other activities now, so clay work is more hobby like than full time, although I do sell work through a couple of local artisan sales (pre covid). I am doing what I guess a lot of people do when they start to work more solo, and that is find out that I really dont have a decent knowledge of all the processes, having been nursed along by the community centre. I found your site through my search for information about glaze materials.
- What is your current involvement with electric fired ceramics? (long answer encouraged)
- I produce a minor amount of ceramic pots etc, with my own little electric kiln, and am just starting to try to understand more about glaze materials, the chemistry (a little reluctantly at first..as in 'couldn't I just buy something..?' then realizing fairly fast that I'd better buckle down to learning much more. I've been reading much on the Digital Fire site recently and a few others, got that slightly swamped feeling with the amount of information out there! Have decided that I shall approach things with a project based learning view... so, I just need to understand a few things first (Tony Hansens basic glazes!) then branch out from there on a need to know basis. baby steps you know.
- All our content is viewable by the public. Why do you want to be a member, when you can already see everything as a non-member?
- Now that you ask, I'm not sure. As I do tend to be a lurker and read everyone else's questions and the responses. I suppose the ability to ask a question is maybe the main reason. I dont feel I have enough knowledge of the subject except perhaps to relate any experience I may have from that perspective.

Harbor Freight is a great place to find unbeatable prices for better HVLP spray guns with stainless steel parts and serviceable economy models, as well as detail guns, all tested by our members for spraying glazes, as well as compressors to power the guns. As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
The critter siphon gun is a spray alternative that is well liked by some of our members, and is available at amazon.
Amazon is also a competitive source for photo light tents for shooting professional quality pictures of your work. They also have the EZ Cube brand favored by several of our members. You might also want to purchase the book Photographing Arts, Crafts and Collectibles . . .

ebay is a great alternative for many tools and the equipment used in the ceramics studio - kilns, wheels, extruders, slab rollers are often listed there both new and used.
