It was Peter Theriot's ranch, Elk Mountain Ranch, that we managed.  Peter sold it several years ago, the bison are gone too.  Sad.  It seemed a perfect place for bison.  Reese Johnson worked for him too.  John is her husband.  They have kids our daughters age so we were close while we were there.

We live now on the Beartooth Hwy, in Wyoming but 10 m. from Cooke City, Montana.  Another epically beautiful place.

Lets keep in touch.  Your connection to clay is an immediate bond and being from Baggs, ... there is a great Mexican restaurant in Baggs right?

How much are you getting to work in clay?  Are you in classes?

We were the Johnsons from Elk Mountain but we have moved.  There are still more Johnsons there (like everywhere!), Reese and John.  My husband and I managed the Elk Mountain Ranch when it was a bison ranch.  Now we are up in the north end of Sunlight Basin on another ranch.

I have not been on this cone6 site much because I do not find computer time to relax with it.  I get a little frustrated not being able to keep up with everything.

My work reflects my ranch life frequently.  And I got my work in a gallery in Santa Fe which is a dream so now my time between ranch and art has taken on a hugely complex balance; especially because we live so rural and my clay studio is in Lander.  Long story.

Where are you living and how do you know about Elk Mountain?  I have Elk Mountain on the top of my "beauty" list for the many places we have ranched in Wyoming and Montana.  The weather was more suited for bison than humans but so drop down beautiful you could deal with it.

Have you posted photos of your work?  I am trying to locate them...  again, I am not too comfortable on this site yet.
