Profile Information

What is your experience with ceramics in general. (Long answer encouraged)
Frustrated amateur potter, having done it now off and on for over 40 years. Started with a Pottery 1 class in College, California. Have been mostly self-taught. My education background was Chemistry, so that's perfect fit with ceramics. Although professionally, I was a homebuilder. Go figure. Now that I'm "retired" somewhat, I've built a potters workroom off my husband's woodshop. Been doing that, again, off and on for last 5 years. Due to major injuries to right arm, can't throw big stuff anymore, but I have a ball with "little pots"
Love to experiment with formulating glazes and just cleaned up the room, after a raccoon invaded and messed (literally) all over everything after gone for a month. Lots of bleach, lots of bleach. I have 2 electric kilns, a skutt old model I bought at garage sale for $50.00!! And a new L & L 6 cuft
I have a fetish for purples and deep reds, and floating blues. Also love tenmokus.
What is your current involvement with electric fired ceramics? (long answer encouraged)
As I said, I have 2 kilns, an older Skutt I use for bisquing and a newer L & L that I use for glazing.
Living in the woods of Ohio, with plenty of wood, would love to experiment with wood fired glazing just to see how my glazes change from reduction to oxidation. I absolutely do not consider myself an expert by any stretch, but I do love to experiment and would be happy to show my results to others.
All our content is viewable by the public. Why do you want to be a member, when you can already see everything as a non-member?
Being a member allows you to develop a feedback system that will help both parties learn and grow. Having the ability to post, discuss and have folks kick things around a bit, is an invaluable learning methodology. I do do this off and on, as we are also in the process of moving back to Colorado. But when I get going, I tend to be rather OCD and work in big spurts all at once. Once threw 100 pots in 3 weeks. STILL working thru glazing them! Off and on as I said.
Where do you work on your ceramics projects?
