Paula you must remind yourself that the only thing, person, who is perfect is GOD.  You created a beautiful pot with character.  I love how the small green triangles have a 3 dimensional quality in and of themselves.

I know the disappointment of having a pot not come out like my expectation. Sometimes appreciation comes much later. In this case, the variation very much resembles what could happen in an atmospheric firing. The gradations may actually give the pot more character. I see it as clearly having gone through a process beyond the application of masked off "paint'.

I also recommend viewing this piece using the "View Full Size" link, so you can zoom in on the wonderful detail.

Y yes!  Amazing pot,  very clean crisp edges and elegant form.

For this particular piece, I wanted to use red clay but I only had white clay, so when the piece was bone-dry I brushed it with iron oxide expecting that the unglazed lines would be red or brown. I was not so happy with the result. The brown is not really as uniform as I expected. In addition, the iron oxide interacted with the glazes (the colors were supposed to be brighter).

For the pattern I used pinstripe detailing tape. I first made a grid like the one depicted below, but with double lines (that was the hardest part and it took a lot of measuring).

Then I used and exacto-knife to cut out the pieces of tape overlapping in the center of every single Y. Then I brushed three coats of glaze (I used Amaco potter's choice commercial glazes) and removed the tape. Finally, I fired the piece to cone 6.
