All the different glazes on this piece are Gartside base with various colorants. The bottom is just the base with no colorants. The green (which is kinda hard to see in the photo) is copper carbonate 3 and Nickel oxide 1. I don't have my notes here so if thats wrong Ill let you know the accurate amounts. The green is brushed over a layer of clear base so it is lighter than it is by itself. I have enjoyed working with this base and like Kathy said its dependable with great results and brilliant glossy color.

I'm using Gartside base a lot as it gives a range of wonderful, funky effects and is very dependable. It is one of my favourite bases so I will be trying it with these colorants, thanks!

Hi Eric, I have that base recipe and have been an admirer of Brian Gartside for a while, read various information from Brian's website etc, but never actually mixed up his recipes. Just wondering if all your glazes come from his base recipe please? I love your forms and decorating style. Your forms remind me of birds for some reason. Really enjoy seeing your work on the network. Thanks.

Thanks, the blue is actually Gartside Base with 1.5 Cobalt Carbonate, 3 Copper Carbonate, and 6 Rutile. Fired to cone 6. I am unsure if this particular glaze goes by a different name.

As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
The critter siphon gun is a spray alternative that is well liked by some of our members, and is available at amazon.
