No George, there is no glaze under the black gloss glaze; it is just wax resist lines on the raw clay with Black Gloss Glaze lines.  That's why it is so crisp.

Michele.... I do have some pieces glazed with Pete's Turquoise which I will download when I get a chance.  The handle happened because this was a demo for one of my classes where I was asked to show the class how to make a handle from a carrot-shaped coil thrown onto a corrugated surface.

Also I wanted to let you know that your handle is killer.

Barbara, thanks for reminding me.   I just looked at the recipe a few days ago and had not realized that he had formulated other colors until then.  I can't wait to check them out.   Do you have a picture of any of the other ones on pots?

What I find intriguing about this mug is the sharply delineated boundary between the black and cream colored glazes.  Usually these borders intermix and loose definition. So this was black over the cream colored glaze?

I ALSO LOVE SOME OF THE OTHER COLORANTS PETE HAS FORMULATED FOR the base glaze; the turquoise is lucsious!
