Thanks for the info Carl!  I also build my own glazes,  don't use any commercial.  I love the effect your wash gives.  I love texture.  I am really into slab work recently and that allows for great texture.  I also love carving leather hard clay.

I have been many times to Mobile,  a great place to live!

Thanks Nadine.  I build all my glazes, or at least the vast majority, by adding oxides and carbonates to a clear commercial glaze that I buy in dry form.  The piece here is covered with a coat of what I call my white liner - clear glaze plus 12% zircopax.  The clay is BMix-5 white clay but I like to use the white liner as it mask any irregularities in the surface, which a clear glaze does not.  The wash on the rims is a mixture of clear glaze and copper carbonate in a 5 to 3 ratio and diluted to a thin wash with water.  It has been brushed on with a hake brush over the white liner about 2-3 passes with the wash.  Love your use of texture by the way, I really like to use texture in clay also.  take care, carl
