Thanks! I did line tests to drop the glazes from cone 10 to cone 6. I don't have the recipes handy but I recall posting the lorio ash one in the recipe section of this site. I got the original from John Britt's book.

Hey George,

Yes, the inner wall is just an open cone. Turn the shaker upside down and pour in salt (or pepper) then just turn right side up again. Similar to the cadogan teapot. Sounds strange but works =)

On your http://ultramegaceramics.blogspot.com/ blog you detailed throwing salt and pepper shakers. I'm a little confused about the technique. Is the inner walled cone so that the shakers don't require a cork or other seal or just so the seal is recessed?

That pepper shaker really does it for me, Eric. The plate is pretty sweet, too.
