Patricia, I think you will be very happy with this glaze.  It is translucent, so it shows any designs, etc. done with underglazes.  If you look at the picture I just uploaded of my "faces" planter with the butterflies, I silkscreened the black butterfly then covered with this Amaco "brown" and the black underglaze shows through.

Pauline--thanks so much for sharing. I have ordered 2 pints of this glaze, and am going to try it out very soon. I just love this color. I use alot of texture too, and am always looking for glazes that enhance texture.

Thank you, this box was one of my favorite things and it sold quickly, in fact virtually everything that was glazed with this beautiful amber colored glaze sold quickly at our local Pottery Guild sale in December.  Alas, I am too new at all this to be at the stage where I formulate my own glazes, or even mix them at this stage.   I use glazes that are available at the studio where I do most of my work, and in addition, I use commercial glazes.  This box was created with speckle brown clay, the lovely amber color which I have since used on other clay bodies with great success, is a translucent glaze in a not so wonderfully named color:  Amaco "brown" HF0-30 and It is one of my favorites, the feet and finial were glazed with Amaco "oilspot" PC-35 and I sponged a little Georgie's Ripe Apple Red, PG624 on the oak leaf applique.  Hope this helps
