LC's is a wifi deal that hooks up to your computer. It doesn't do anything to/for your kiln, it's a monitoring system. It can help with down firing.

Are you talking about a laptop or a computerized kiln? When it comes to technology I am stilled marveling at the concept of a chainsaw compared to an ax. But I am sure I would get it to work. thanks

I would order a thermocouple, it's cheaper than buying a pyrometer. Even if it is an analog version you would at least have an idea. LC Cox on Facebook makes a deal that measures temp and time and connects to your computer so you can see how your firing is doing via a line graph. it's kinds sweet but it costs more than $100 but it's worth it.

Paul I have a Skutt  LT 3k, it have a cone setter so I could manually start it back up after shut down but I do not have a pyrometer. I do have two old pyrometers off of some Ammaco kilns but the thermocouples are shot. I am reluctant to order new ones because I am not sure if the meters are good. I have not needed the pyrometers in the past for my tile but now I will probably order the thermocouples and hope that one of the meters is still working.

Hi Kabe. I use the Tenmoku with honey or licorice over the top. I haven't tried it with other glazes but I would think that it would do well with many glazes. I don't give it any special cool down but if it is held at 2000f for a while the crystals grow more. What kind of kiln do you have? Does it have a sitter?

Hi Paul. I like the tenmoku  have you tried it under any other glazes / colors? Do you use a cool down period after your kiln shuts down? I do not have the ability to do this with my kiln yet. happy firing

it's called Tenmoku gold. I think its in the insight database but if not google it, it's easy to find.
