I sprayed the SCM Warm on the interiors of the bowls and then dipped the bowls in Randy's Red that I had replaced the RIO with Spanish RIO. This meant that I didn't have to use glaze catchers.

I had some problem with glazes (not all) pin-holing so I slowed the cool-down from 2180-2140 from 100 to 40 degrees. After that I let it cool to 1700 at 300 degrees an hour, hold for 60 min., cool to 1600 degrees at 50 degrees an hour then off.

Since slow cooling tends to help produce matte surfaces and my technique usually produces mattes the main conclusion I can come to is that the dipping produced a thicker layer of glaze for the melt.

The glossy surface should be more food friendly. We're pleased and our customers seem delighted. The color response seems far more interesting than I was getting before. I try to enhance that by swirling slip around the interior for glaze breaks.

Beautiful set of bowls, Joe. They appear quite glossy. Not your usual matte combos over Strontium Crystal Magic. Could you talk about what's different with them from your other work?
