I use Standard 181 white stoneware. I trim the foot while leather hard and then add the slip. I never have problems with slip because I make it out of the same clay. Go to My Page for the recipe. I keep the slip in a covered bucket, but adding plastic wrap that completely covers and touches the slip will keep it from having an unpleasant odor over time.

Love the texture you're getting. Is this porcelain? Are you adding the slip immediately after throwing? Do you have problems with the slipped layer cracking/peeling off?

Public recipes are shared. This one is from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes by Hesselberth and Roy. Look for glaze recipes under Forum, Groups and Technical above. This piece was fired to just tipping cone 8. I could not get the crystalization at a lower temperature.

As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
