You could I believe also use it where it does not come in contact with the food or drink or your mouth say like the bottom half of a cup or pitcher or the outside of a bowl.

Christopher I have been researching your question and based on the note below from JP's website I would say not at cone 6.  Thanks for the question.  I saw the recipe used on a bowl fired to cone 6.  Because I saw it on a bowl, I assumed it was food safe and you know what they say about assuming:)

"This recipe seems to be within cone 10 limits. based on my glaze software. It has an expansion of 7.24 and Silica/alumina ration of 10.33, which would make it a gloss at cone 10. Because it is obviously under matured for cone 6 I would advise to use it only one non functional work"
