For ^6-6.5 firings, I used Mile Hi Aspen. Mile Hi is my local shop. Here's the blurb from their web site:
Aspen (Cone 5-7) This fine, translucent porcelain was developed as an alternative to Cone 10 firing. Aspen responds well to hand modeling or wheelwork.

My only issue with that clay is you have to trim the bottom or really be careful with compression because it's much more likely to crack than any other clay I work with (including other porcelains) if the bottom is fairly thin. That being said, I've had really good results with that clay from ^5 to ^6.5 in oxidation and reduction and it's really nice to throw.
I expect that "The Coup" from Matt and Dave's Clays would also be good at that range. It's ^5-8. I've had good luck with their ^8-12 "Porcelain for the People" at ^8 oxidation and ^10 reduction and I plan to try "The Coup" soon.
Thanks so much for the information. Also, I learned from your post that Mile Hi sells clay that is 5-7 firing range. Very good to know. My clay says cone 5 but will go to 6 - but I hear it bloats if you go any higher than that. 5-7 would be perfect.
What porcelain did you use? What is the firing range of the porcelain? I found that the glazes from the SH workshop did look and perform (i.e. no blisters, etc) better on porcelain. Thanks again for the info. Cheers, MJ
There was actually a little iron in the SCM. I had a little SCMO, also with 1% SiC, so I mixed it in with the SCM. It was probably between 10% and 15% of the total. Put another way, you'd add 1/10 to 1/7 of the amount of Yellow Iron to SCM as you'd normally add for SCMO.
The Water Color Green, Jenn's Juicy Fruit, and Hanna's Fake Ash were unchanged.
I did have a little bit of pinholing on the stoneware so I think that may have done better a little hotter. The porcelain didn't have any problems.
My blog shows what the glaze looked like before firing in case you're interested...
