I also changed my bisque fire to somewhat hotter and I think that I will be pleased with new glaze results. Thanks for sharing. I do love the dots approach and I think that I must try it myself.
Hi Nadine,
The pot was made by simply pressing clay dots in a half sphere plaster mold . (Hollow, thus using the inside.)
I noticed in former work that when the clay dots are not pressed firmly the seams gave a decorative effect. After the half sphere was filled, I shifted the form somewhat in order to obtain a higher and more 'playful' form.
the glaze was experimental, as most of my glazes are... Indeed is it somewhat pitted. Since a while I fire my bisques at 1000°C instead of 950°C this reduces some pitting.
The recipe is
K-feldspar 12.5
Kaolin 10
Silica 19.7
Ball clay 23.40
Frit 3134 : 34.40
add
Titanium dioxide (not rutile) 10
Cobalt carbonate 1
Copper carbonate 3
Daniel, How about sharing how this was made? Looks like pieces added individually over an armature such as a balloon, the glaze is interesting but I can't tell is it slightly pitted along some edges? The color is very nice.
