November 2016 Newsletter

~  Ceramic info, tips, and tidbits from our network and beyond  ~

Hello.  Here are just a few things happening around the C6P network right now:

Welcome New Members!

13 new members joined the network in October.  From Oregon to New Mexico, Texas to Florida, and a few points in between, new members are coming from all over.  Even three Canadians joined our ranks this month.  Welcome, fellow ceramists!  Now, go pick out a nice profile picture for yourselves…

Last Summer's Fundraiser Brought In $650

45 members responded.  Most paid the standard $9 fee.  Six made donations of $15 to $50!  Thank you for your support.  Active supporters of the network have stars in the lower right corner of their profile pictures.  If you didn't get your status upgrade, please contact George Lewter.

Another Way Working at Cone 6 Makes Your Life Easier

With one key, you can tell all of your friends just how cool you are because you fire to 2232°F.  After all, that pointy, little, caret thingy which kind of looks like a cone is on the "6" key.  Easy-peasy!  Fun fact: If you really want to show-off, skip the 6 (and other alt-key options for the delta symbol) and try the HTML code Ʌ.  It renders an inverted V (a Latin letter) that makes for a pretty slick cone symbol no one uses.

For the Adventurous Among Us

Member Craig Rhodes demonstrates how to make a bigger splash pan from a trash can.  See the video here.  Potters are often resourceful and Mr. Rhodes is no exception.

This month's featured image comes from member, Patricia Bridges.  This is a nice example of clay body, texture, and glaze working together to create a lively surface.

This month’s header image is by Mr. Splash Pan himself and network member, Craig Rhodes.
