Hi Lorraine, I'm so glad you joined this group as it is a terrific resource and I'm glad to be your friend. I tested some glazes before we left PA and thought I had some really nice ones but learned a valuable lesson about documenting properly! I've been trying to get my kiln set up for where it will be situated but with moving, renovations, and now a new job, I haven't gotten too far! How are you doing with your pottery?
I've been busy with a new part time job as travel consultant for Expedia CruiseShipCenter but I have completed most of the training and am able to get back to my main thing, clay! I have a small electric kiln that I've managed to finally start using in the last few weeks and this is the first time I've had one operational since early last summer. I'm afraid to fire the gas kiln where we live because I don't want the fire dept to take it away. My Mom lives on an acreage about an hour away so I'm taking it out there where I can also fire with pits, barrels, and an old electric kiln I want to turn into either salt or raku. My sister is finishing here 3rd year at ACAD in ceramics so I'm hoping she will want to experiment!
Nice Lorraine. checked out your blog site..love the warmth you obtained on the piece in the first two photographs. Did you use any salts or carbonates ?
