What is your current involvement with electric fired ceramics? (long answer encouraged)
I have 2 electric kilns which I fire cone 6. I have re-read all of my glaze chemistry books, Fraser, Hopper, Rhodes etc... Glazing is my biggest challenge! I love learning from this group.

Hello Nadine, thank you for the contact.  I have not kept up with my page here since opening a pottery shop and joining Facebook.  My pottery is located in Old Homosassa on Yulee Dr right next to River Safaris.  I have a page on FB I use as my web site;   https://www.facebook.com/abdavis.clayart.

Citrus county has quite a few enthusiastic potters and until last month had a wonderful Community College evening class.  It has been put on hold for at least a year because of budget cut backs.

Between Spring Hill and Homosassa there is a pottery called "Dirty Dog"  where some amazing potters work.

If you check out my page check in on Pepper Creek Pottery also, I try to update what is happening in our area as far as art shows and pottery events.  And please stop in and introduce yourself if your in our area.

I have asked this before elsewhere, but I am asking it again: The Randy that made lots of glazes (but is apparently COLOR BLIND because lots are different colors than their name on my pots), WHO IS HE?

    Does anyone KNOW FOR CERTAIN?

Once Steven Hill was here teaching a workshop and he kept referring to Hanna's ash glazes and THE HANNA was in the room and none of us said THIS IS THE HANNA! I thought it was for her to speak up!  So, I know Hanna of glaze fame but who the heck is this poor color blind Randy?!~ Some say Johnson, but claim to not know for certain!

    Welcome, Nadine!

You've jumped into our little pond with both feet! I must say that it makes my day to find members like you, who find value on our network, and then add more value by being active, supporting members. Thank you.

Hi, I am new To this site so have patience with me.  I will give you a bit of my background.  I am a self taught potter, started in 1969. Attended the first Craft Show at Bennington, VT. I think it was 1972. Small but wonderful people. I have had several studio's in my life. Also A one point was working in NYC at Downtown Potters Co-op. Did the National Gift shows in NY and had my work in the NYTime Magazine at one point.

I move out to Washington in 2006 and built a Monolithic Dome house and just finished my new studio last year. It is small because I have downsize. As you can guess I am 73, but don't feel.  Still full of new ideas and work to be done. But really do not want to do production pottery. Habit often swings me into it.

What is you background?  I started out as a Fine Art Major and have taken side trips in my life into the painting world. In 1982 had a two person show in NYC.  Never really took off and the Art World at that time was fierce.

I am not a lover of competition.

Love your unfired pieces. Studio looks great! Looks like you have a small kiln like I do. Also your fiber art looks beautiful.

Aloha Nadine,  My wife and I would love for you to stop by, we don't really have a gallery or even a showroom.  We work in our lanai and do a few craft shows now and then.  We always enjoy meeting clay folks, to talk story and share idea's.  When are you planning to visit?  Are you here to work with clay?  Let us know!

Be safe and we sent you much Aloha
