Has anyone built an oiler or a woody for cone 6? I've got plenty of designs and I plan to get used to oil by starting with a dripping plate system under a little updraft. It'll probably need a woodfire for the first 500 degrees until its hot enough to ignite the oil.
There's plenty of wood where I am, so I want to be able to use either wood or oil but suddenly wondered if it would mean saggars for cone 6 glazes.

I have not created a specific kiln for cone 6 but rather used our wood-fired Phoenix kiln (normally fired to cone 10) for a raw firing to cone 6. The kiln is ussually fired with soda so even though we did not use soda, everything needed to be wadded as there was enough substances on the kiln walls and props to become volative again during the firing.

I have used oil burners because of the high BTU's of oil.. I use an ordinary Oil Burner such as those used in heating systems. Currently I use LP and a small burner from Harbor Freight Tools to preheat up to 600 then I pull it out and insert an oil burner with a 2.50 gph nozzle.. to cone 6

I had a large cat arch kiln at one time with 4 ports for burners,  Started with one at 1 gph to preheat and as temp. rose inserted 2nd, 3rd and 4th with larger and larger nozzles.  It worked great.. and safer than gas as well...
