Potters & Sculptors - Making Rock from Mud
I saw this glaze at a crafts fair.It was beautiful and breaking to all of those colors. I have since tried it and I get a rather ordinary looking, nonbreaking mauve. The lady at the Crafts Fair said it was from clay times some years ago. does anyone have any any experience with this stuff?
RED/PINK/PURPLE/MAUVE (^6 OX)
21 gersley borate
16 neph sy
o.15 chrome -TOXIC-
I've had good and bad firings with chrome pinks. The reason for bad firings is they don't like any zinc in the atmosphere or adjoining pots....zinc kills pink(chrome/tin).
Good results came from a heavier application, test to see what works best. It may take several firings to dial it in.
Google "chrome red glaze recipes" and you will find several try testing several.
