Yes, Bennett had the best prices when I bought my Skutt many years ago. Wish L&L had that nice in between size. I don't want to give up so much space, just a few inches in height. So I'll be debating for some time yet.

Thanks Jeff, I'm glad that someone who has used both confirms the ease of changing elements in an L&L. I do like my Skutt but dread the day I need to change the elements which may be soon.

Thanks Norm and Juli. I've researched many websites which is how I came up with my wish list for a kiln. Clay-King is a great place to order supplies that I can't get more locally here in Florida. I checked out Niel's website and enjoyed reading about him. (liked his humour in his 'about me' section)

Having changed elements in both Skutt & L&L, purely from that standpoint it is L&L all the way. In fact, I got rid of my Skutt KM 818, kept the controller from it & bought an old L&L J18 & put the Skutt controller on it. Couldn't be more happy!!! It's not just the hard element holders for ease of changing, its the binding post as well. No more crimps!! Just wind the new element pigtails around the binding post & tighten down the nut.
Gina,

You can message Niel Estrick, he is a member here, and a potter, works on all kilns, and sells L&L kilns. He knows his stuff when it comes to all things Kilns. Five years later, I can still email him with how to's and he always helps. My kiln was going to be shipped to me by someone so I had rather have a fellow potter make some extra cash instead of a web site.

Just my opinion
