Happy New Year!

I wanted to ask if anyone has a good way to fire glazed ornaments?  I hung mine from high temp wire on a bead bar.  The bead bar warped and all the ornaments sagged and fused together.  The bead bar was suppose to be strong enough for a cone 6 fire which is used.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I bought some heavy duty rods, cut them in half & stuck them in a soft brick. I did this to several bricks.  This next year, I am going to buy some more rods & drill holes & put the rods in a hard shelf.

The rods are from Kemper & are CBBH bars.  They are 11" long & $6.45/each for 6 or more.  I might try the ceramic rods for the high fire bead rack.  I think they are only $1.40/each.  When you cut the metal ones in half, they are only 5 1/2" long. That works for most ornaments if you don't push them too far down in the soft brick.  The ceramic ones are 6" long & they might work better putting them in a hard shelf.  jhp

Thank you Jeff for your response, I will give it a try with the ceramic rods you suggested.  Love the beautiful work in your picture:)...Tracy

Thanks Tracy!  Bear in mind that I have not taken these to ^10, but only to ^5.  They say that they will go to ^10, but I haven't had a need to do that yet.  The ones I made last month are only going to ^3.  I haven't finished any yet, but will post pictures when they are done(assuming that they aren't hideous!).  I haven't gotten them all poured yet, nor bisqued(soft), cleaned, underglazed, re-bisqued, & then glaze fired.  It's a long process, & I got a late start.  The good thing is that I now have my own molds & can make ornaments on my own time & process.  jhp
