I'm planning to test a couple of crystalline glazes. I don't really want a whole kiln full of test pots, nor a kiln with just a couple of pots being fired.

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to how my usual ^6 glazes (mostly mixed by me, but I also have a couple of bought brush-ons that I use) will react to the schedule of a crystalline firing.

If your holds are considerably cooler than your target cone temperature, the main difference could be with some glossy glazes going more matte and possibly better color development of some glazes that you don't normally slow cool. I would guess minimal harm, but some differences to normal. Disclaimer - I've done many slow cools with holds of up to an hour at 1750 deg F and 1400 deg F, but not with crystalline glazes, so no experience with your exact question. :-)

Thanks George: that's prompted me to think through a  test firing a bit more carefully and come up with some sort of plan.
