If you don't glaze the bottom of the plate inside of the foot ring, you can place a wad of clay of appropriate thickness under the center of the plate just during the firing to minimize sagging.

No offense taken - A few of the plates had very slight low spots. I threw 3 sets (one each for my 2 daughters and wife) of 8, so I learned a lot along the way. eventually I settled on a trimmed foot with a central 'button' about 1/2" and a normal foot ring. This seemed to minimize any slumping of the plates.

nice plates. may i ask, they seem to have a low spot in center. I ask b/c I have this problem and have not figured out how to prevent it. please, no offense.

As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.
The critter siphon gun is a spray alternative that is well liked by some of our members, and is available at amazon.
