I'd suggest refiring the green vase.

With a digital controller we always add a 20 minute hold after the controller indicates Cone 6 heat-work has been done.  While in theory I think this accumulates a Cone 6.5, the reason we do it is to allow glaze reactions to finish and lay down. This may be more a problem for our kiln as it can achieve the final climb to 2,232 or so very quickly.

If your "speckles" are bubbles or pin-holing, a hold at temperature usually cures this. For us the exceptions which are not cured by a hold have been porous cone 10 clays fired at cone 6 with a reactive glaze which have penetrated deep into the clay body, or the rare occasion where the glaze reacts chemically with the clay.  When this happens I have the ware refired to help understand what's happening. Some of these rare interactions continue into the third Cone 6 firing.

Your "speckles" can also be crystallizations, which we frequently see in our glazes doing a 6 hour slow-cool between 1,800 F and 1,500 F.

Do you think the speckles on the green one are because it was underfired?

I think I under-fired a bit also. ^6 barely bent. The glossy black wasn't very glossy.

It amuses me to watch some people spend a lot of time on some piece then immediately slather on some glaze without first firing it on a test tile of the clay they're using.

Most glazes take on a variety of looks depending on which clay they're used on.

ha ha, I know what you mean , the frogskin turned out terrible for me as well. I had such high hopes for it!

Nope, I wanted to make sure that the glazes worked. I'm glad I waited.  The frogskin turned out terrible. I liked the Honey Amber, Rowes brown, Strong Celadon and Fat Cream though.
