I often decorate my pots with brushwork.  Pursuing an ultra thin line, I've found my cat's whiskers work the best.  They're not purrfect (that's right, I said it), but they produce some interesting results.

Taped individually to a stick, I dip the whisker into some fairly viscous underglaze, then lay it down on the pot.  No dragging, just gentle press and lift away.  The thicker the underglaze, the more droplets on the whisker, the more thick/thin spots and tiny dots.

Rest assured, no cats were harmed in the making of these brushes.  I have to wait for Kitty to drop one naturally and that doesn’t happen very often.

They’re precious, so I keep them safe in their own foam-lined box.  ∆

Thanks, Joseph.  The collection grows.  I'm up to maybe 12 whiskers by now, taped to the wall, waiting to be put to use.  Using them this way is tedious, for sure, especially when I was in production mode, but I never found another way to get this same result.
