"Lithium Carbonate or Lithium Fluoride are fluxes which make glazes runny. As a color, lithium contributes only a clear glass. If you leave out the lithium, you have to replace it with more of another flux material like the nepheline syenite or the…"

"I would suggest you add 20% Ferro 3269 Frit to the Weathered Bronze Green, which is my variation to make sure this Cone 10 glaze recipe melts fully at Cone 5/6.  I doubt the results were changed by aging, but a reaction with the type of…"

"I made Barbara's Strontium Turquoise Matte on the LEFT fired on four different clays. and I replaced the Strontium with Barium on the RIGHT. It's a typical Barium Blue as the Strontium or Barium shift the green color to blue, but not even…"

What is your experience with ceramics in general. (Long answer encouraged)
I've been playing with clay for 50 years on and off. I have recently retired and am planning on spending more time than ever before with clay. Learning to control glazes appears to be my greatest challenge.If only I had listened to all those chemistry lectures in high school and college!
What is your current involvement with electric fired ceramics? (long answer encouraged)
I have a small kiln an even smaller kiln and a tiny test kiln. I got the mid size when I was 15 years old, the largest for 50 dollars off EBay a few years ago and the tiny test kiln was free on the side of the road. (Almost New)All of my work is electric fired. I admire reduction fired work but doubt I will ever be able to justify a wood fired kiln. I have a PC that controls my kilns recording and managing the temperature to within 2 degrees. This has given me many more opportunities to control what I do. Understanding the glazes I use is the key now.
All our content is viewable by the public. Why do you want to be a member, when you can already see everything as a non-member?
I want to be part of this group. I want to share and receive. I want to do more than say hello and listen. I want to shake hands and tell stories.
I joined this group once before many years ago and am impressed with how it has grown.

Harbor Freight is a great place to find unbeatable prices for better HVLP spray guns with stainless steel parts and serviceable economy models, as well as detail guns, all tested by our members for spraying glazes, as well as compressors to power the guns. As yet no one has tested and commented on the remarkably inexpensive air brushes at harbor freight.

The critter siphon gun is a spray alternative that is well liked by some of our members, and is available at amazon.

Amazon is also a competitive source for photo light tents for shooting professional quality pictures of your work. They also have the EZ Cube brand favored by several of our members. You might also want to purchase the book Photographing Arts, Crafts and Collectibles . . .

If you are up to creating videos of your work or techniques you might want to invest in a flip video camera

ebay is a great alternative for many tools and the equipment used in the ceramics studio - kilns, wheels, extruders, slab rollers are often listed there both new and used.
