A little about me

Hello-
My name is Sonja Noskowiak. When I joined this site, I didn't think to sign up with my real name. I think I was excited about my pottery name so much I forgot my real one, hehe. I just wanted to leave some information about myself here, just in case anyone happens by and wants to know more.

I have owned a sign business for the past 15 years. It's a small shop and I've had 3 different locations here in Walterboro. Various reasons for this stems from a spouse having cancer, to a sucky landlord. We work mostly in vinyl signage, some of the things we do are Signs, Decals, Lettering, Banners, Magnetics, Airbrushing and more.

I will spare you the whole story on how I got started in clay, but you can see and read my small story on my second video I have uploaded in the video section. I joined ClayArt about 5 months ago and and recently found the link to this site. I joined it and so happy I did. So much information here to read. I'll be coming back to read and try to join in IF I can. Just a newbie here. I really hope to make some new friends here as well as learn more about the glazing process.

I have a shop in the back yard in which I have my kiln in. I do all the glazework there and hope to start making my own shortly. You will see another video I uploaded as well which shows some clay I dug. I never did process it because I found out I might need to know a little more about it than I did. That's another project coming, but I do own a piece of a clay pit here. I only wish it was some luscious, creamy, sticky, very plastic like clay. Well, I'm not sure yet what I'm going to have here, but maybe it will be good enough to put into some glazes. We'll soon see. As for my throwing, well...I moved my wheel down to the sign shop. I purchased a retail license and I will be throwing there, and possibly throwing so others can watch. I have set up a small little gallery in there, and I do mean small! I just thought it would be much for fun doing it there than home. I miss people!

Other than that, I am a homeschool mom for 9 years now. He is in 10th grade. I do have my hands full, but life just isn't life without lots to do to keep me busy. I have many reasons to get out the bed, and look forward to the day.

I also am a quilter. I studied quilting for 8 years and still love it, but for now, my pottery has taken 1st place. I love to learn... and I'm so looking forward to learning more. Maybe I'll find someone here to mentor me on making my own glazes.

I'm always looking for Facebook Potter Friends. You can friend me Here

I also have a YouTube Channel. You can visit Here

Thanks for stopping by my page. I look forward to chatting with you and getting to know you better. Invite me to your pages :)
