Just one more thing Donna, I did not try the combo for the other 'Green' you mention below (Adding 3% RIO, 1.75% of CuCo3, .375% manganese dioxide, .50% rutile to the base). Will do that one next time and let you know how it goes. Just did the Andy's Quient's Copper Matt and Donna's White.

Hi Donna,

Donna's White (just the base)

I did not put rutile in this test batch, although now I wish I had now so that will be in my next lot of tests. I like the results but also think that this glaze could be better still (whiter) with a little tin or zircon. It has a lovely feel about it though. I mixed up the 'Green', 'Andy's Quients Copper Matte' as per your instructions and that is okay on its own, but as you say much better over the 'white' (very pretty).

I had accidently repeated the same test twice so on the top row you will see the same glaze used twice. Oops.

Note - All glazes dipped into 'Donna's White' for approx ten seconds, glaze medium thickness, let to dry until shine disappears then about five second dip in other glaze.

Top row from left to right -Green Dragon Matt, Floating Red, Green Dragon Matt (oops), VC Green Ash, Hannah's Fake Ash with 1.3 % Cobalt,

Middle Row from left to right- Eggplant Purple, Dolita Variegated Slate Blue, Floating Blue, Andy Quient's Copper Matte, Nutmeg with redart sub

Front Row -Donna's White, Andy Quient's Copper Matte

Still heaps of other possible combo's. I am definately keen to try Rutile in the base as it would affect the overlying glazes and possibly give even better results

Below are some Whites I tested - Somewhat affected by all the copper etc floating around the kiln, so a little green.

Top Row -Smooth Opaque White, Very White Matt, Donna's White

Bottom Row -Waxy White, Stony White, Smooth White Matt

Hi Donna, I fired those tests this week and had some interesting/nice results with the 'Donna's White' (as i now call it). I used twelve different glazes over it. I will upload the pics here asap. I have been renovating so busy busy. Also mixed up some new glazes from recipes I have had for while in my recipe book, which I will post any interesting ones as a discussion in glaze recipes. Thanks.

Going to give it a try. Thanks for the advice and the recipe. Will mix it up today as I have a few other tests on the go at the moment. Sure I am hooked on glaze testing. lol

i meant to say the green glaze  by itself is ugly at cone 6 or higher....

it is really nice when it is over other glazes

as before, you should test it, i have just my limited test (of the dishwasher) and again I don't recommend my pottery for food storage

no, the white is the same matte white glaze with 4% rutile added.  it makes a semi matte glaze. the white is all over coverage with the green on top.   I dipped the green glaze, and shook it (for curtaining)

the green glaze is the same matte base with 3% RIO, 1.75% of CuCo3, .375% manganese dioxide, .50% rutile

this green is really good over things, at cone 6 (and higher) it is pretty ugly.  the clay body here is standard 112

that's a good idea to spray the green oxides though, since i never use it as a glaze by itself

Donna. Have you brushed or sprayed an oxide wash over a white glaze here?
