Created with a little help from my friend. His spray booth, his glazes, his kiln, his guidance. Thank you, Steven Hill.

Hi George,

Thank you for answering my questions, especially taking time during the holiday.  Wish your Thanksgiving holiday was as good as mine - firing, glazing and cleaning the studio.  I just uploaded some the pictures I took after the second ox gas firing by using SH's glazes and spray methods.  Please let me know if I have done correctly. I really enjoy this website and have learned so much from  the experienced potters.  All the information regarding cone 6 glazes and firing are so helpful and educational.  I wish I have studied more about chemistry while I was in school.

With a gas kiln you can fire both ox and red. You can go up in reduction and get true celadons, copper reds, carbon trap shinos. But you can fire oxidation for fuel efficiency and the oxidation colors we talk about here. You have the flexibility for both firing types in your kiln. Why cut yourself off from either. The pot in this photo was fired reduction at a Steven Hill workshop where we compared his glazes fired both in oxidation and in reduction.

Beautiful! George, thank you for writing notes on many of the pictures. To a self taught, weekend potter (cone 10 reduction for 20 years)like me, to view your work presenting on this website is a learning and re-programming process. I am shifting my firing to a cone 6 neutural atmospher (in a Geil fiber kiln) by using oxidation glazes. I have some very successful results and not always. This website has helped me tremdously in gaining knowledge of glazes. Any advise? Should I stick to a cone 6 reduction fire in my gas kiln? I mix all my glazes and so far not all oxidation glazes mentioned in RR and JH book work in my firing.
