These Vases are wheel thrown and altered. The Base Gaze is Hamling's. The manual Kiln shutoff before I could start the slow cooling. I am really happy that this happens in my kiln without changing anything.

Yes. I don't use pedestals.  I make catch basins.  I make a sawdust puck made from alumina Hydrate:epk:sawdust  1:1:.5 and brush coat it with alumina hydrate:epk 80:20.  I brush the 80:20 on the foot of the pot thick. I  shape a two inch high puck under the foot (the diameter as the base). Coat the puck and the base of the catch basin with the 80:20.  The Puck breaks loose of the basin and the puck can easily be removed from the pot.  I use a tile saw, if needed and I am going to buy a lap grinder to clean up the piece.

Theresa - Do you need to place a catch basins under under each piece with this zinc silicate glaze?
