~ The Cone6Pots Newsletter ~

Hello and welcome to the inaugural issue of the Cone6Pots Newsletter.

My name is Erik.  I’m a member of the network and the editor of this newsletter.

You are receiving this email because you are a member of Cone6Pots.

We will publish monthly, sending you a message just like this one, with links to info, tips, and tidbits from our network and beyond.

This is our first issue.

To kick things off, I thought I’d share just a few things:

OUR NETWORK, BY THE NUMBERS

Cone6Pots was founded on May 13, 2008.

There are 2051 members.

To date, 6,458 photos and 147 videos have been uploaded to the network.

Seven new members have joined Cone6Pots since I agreed to edit this newsletter about a month ago.

A CURRENT EXHIBITION

Member Vaughan L Smith and his wife, Jacqueline Cohen, currently have a show of their work at the The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design.

A detail of his intricate sgraffito work adorns the top of this message.

AN INTERESTING ARTICLE

Member Lawrence Weathers recently shared an amusing article about

the correlation between sales and the size of one’s signature.  How big is yours?

TOOL TIP #1

Mr. Weathers also shared his tips for using magnets to keep pottery tools handy.  Good stuff.

TOOL TIP #2

From the archives, Tracy Shea shared a twist on disposable bats.

FUN FACT

The format for this newsletter is loosely based on author Austin Kleon’s newsletter.

I like how concise his mailings are.  He gets right to the point AND it’s interesting.

I actually look forward to it each week.

I’d like our newsletter to be equally compelling.  It’s great.  He’s great.  Check it out.

SUGGESTIONS

Suggestions for this newsletter are most certainly welcome.

If you have an idea, or something you’d like to include in an upcoming issue, feel free to message me through the network.

I welcome all comments and complaints.

Good day,

Erik

Tips for Members

If you just want to spout off, it is best accomplished as a blog posting. If you want to get more guidance and ideas from other members, ask a question as a new discussion topic. In the upper right corner of the lists for both types of posting, you will find an "+Add " button. Clicking it will open an editor where you create your posting. 4/16/2014
