I recently noticed something peculiar in Insight-Live. When I open a recipe it suddenly says 'Mine' for the owner, while I am sure I am not.  An advanced search  ' Show recipes of ' does still work correctly and shows only my recipes.

How is this for you, other user?

Hmm, you're right Marina both recipes are shown as mine as well. I just added the Eggplant recipe to show Carole Evans how to adjust the glaze, so that recipe is in "mine" in that sense.

But I didn't add the John Britt Buddha Juice which also displays as "mine" as well.

It's not a bad idea if you George and I have been given super-user privileges,  so we can fix errors, just so long as this isn't universally the case.

A more troubling longer-term problem I've run into is missing photo links.

If I click on the small "photo tile" I get an error message like this

"The requested picture /var/www/insight-live/uploads/groups/9kg34das5g/recipes/DB-1359.jpg was not found in your folder, please contact us."

Yet if I click on the Edit button below the photo, the original large-scale photo is there.

Do me a favor and see if you have Edit buttons on the two photos in, and if you get the same error message I do when clicking on the photos themselves.

"Tenmoku Gold Norm's w/o Cornwall Stone ^6      C6G-182

In a few cases I have deleted the photo and reuploaded the photo with the description, only to run into the broken-link again in a few weeks,

I have noticed the photo problem for a while now for various recipes and the work around with the edit button too. I double checked and indeed I get the same for your tenmoku recipe:

The requested picture /var/www/insight-live/uploads/groups/9kg34das5g/recipes/DB-1359.jpg was not found in your folder, please contact us.

I also notice a search in our pictures on tenmoku or/and gold does not result in finding the photo, while two of mine with the search Daly do work. I have no idea what the problem or the solution is right now.

Just got an email from Tony that he fixed the ownership issue. Let me know if you see that problem again.

Just ran into another picture problem. I accidentilly linked picture greg daly D variations to recipe Greg Daly base E.
and I have no idea how to unlink it other than deleting the picture.

Help!

Marina  —  Fortunately when you delete a photo which is shown in more than one recipe, it only deletes the link in that recipe, not the others - so just delete it.

Tony found all of my photos were being sent to the photo folder in my individual Insight-Live account, which I don't even use.  So he has added a macro which also looks in my photo folder if the photo is not in the group folder, and upon the first access it copies the photo from my folder to the group folder.

Check and see if this extra code fixes your photos as well.  Tony said there still a couple of Georges photos he couldn't locate. They're stored someplace but the show up only as a black placeholder currently.

There's a lot of code behind the scenes of this database.

Thanks Norm, but I fear I do not quite understand. I cannot delete the photo from the recipe edit menu. So I display the photo with the edit button under the photo in the recipe it should not be linked to. When I push 'delete' on the photo it shows two warnings telling me it and all the links will be removed everywhere. This photo is linked to two recipes. So I chickened out. Do you mean I should delete it anyway?

I have no photo's in my personal insight live account, so the new macro will not work for me. Indeed there is a lot of code in Insight. I have no clue how the photo's and the links are implemented in the database. I wonder if the photo title is the primary search key.

You are correct. I just send this email to Tony Hansen.

Tony - Marina Reijsmeijer (Kleierij) has run across a problem with the photo links. She Edited a picture and accidentally clicked on the link of another open recipe, thus adding the photo to that recipe.

There doesn't seem to be anyway to undo this photo link, short of right-clicking on the photo to save it, then deleting the photo, and re-uploading it to the original recipe and duplicating the notes.

Would it be a problem to add check-boxes to unlink a photo from a recipe to make it as easy as mistakenly linking it?

Insight-Live updates:

1.) Tony Hansen has added an "Unlink" feature to Photo Edit, just above the Link options.

2.) Currently "Our Photos" the "Show All" button displays only shows photos you have uploaded.

Upon his return from Paraguay, "Show All" will display all photos in the Insight-Live database for all users, with links under each photo to the glaze recipe.

3.) Tony still needs to locate where most of George Lewter's glaze photos are on the system, the ones which currently display a black thumbnail in the photo.

"Show All" feature under "Our Photos" with a link under each photo to the recipe

Thanks Norm and Tony, awesome, the unlink works.

I seem to remember seeing everyone's photo's in the past, but now I see only mine, like you mentioned.

By the way, do you know what the publish/unpublish button does?

Where do you find the publish/unpublish button?  I think I might have seen it yesterday, but I don't see it now.

This might be part of locking-down the database. I discovered people who have not added any glazes can delete glaze recipes and photos, which was an unintended effect of making the database more accessible so we could correct errors in the recipes.

I like Tony's new feature next to each glaze name, a choice of (1) or (+), where (1) closes all other open glazes and (+) adds this glaze to the other open glazes.  Previously Insight-Live had this annoying habit when you clicked on Close on the left-most displayed glaze, this actually closed one of the other open recipes while leaving open the recipe you had clicked Close on.

The programming behind Insight-Live has come a long way in a relatively short period of time.  I can't imagine the number of hours Tony has spent on this.

That button is at the bottom of the 'our pictures' section, next to add and del .

I struggled with the 'open' 'close'and 'save' buttons too. I really like the new 1 and + features. I saw them in my personal account but not in the group account, but this was caused by the setting of the 'auto open' feature in my preferences. A notice from Tony alerted me so I fixed it.

The program is still continuously improving and I hope Tony still has a life beyond Insight :)  I know from experience that users of a program will always invent ways to use it, you never imagined.

I used the Publish/Unpublish button combined with the Confirm checkbox on one of my photos. Afterwards, the photo name in the list of photos is in bold. I can still see the photo in the recipe in my account and when logged-in using other's accounts. Checking the photo, Confirm, and Publsih/Unpublish removes the bolding from the photo name, but again doesn't see to change anything else.  It's a mystery.

We'll have to ask Tony what the Publish/Unpublish button does when he returns from holiday in Paraguay.
